Description

The Saturn C-8 Nova was a proposed, massive 1960s NASA rocket designed for direct-ascent Apollo lunar missions, featuring 8 F-1 engines on the first stage (S-IC-8) and 8 J-2 engines on the second. Intended as a larger alternative to the Saturn V, it was meant to carry over 460,000 lb to LEO, but was cancelled in 1962 due to excessive costs and manufacturing constraints.
