Description

Venera 13 was a highly successful Soviet space probe that achieved the historic milestone of transmitting the first color images and audio recordings from the surface of Venus. Launched on October 30, 1981, the spacecraft traveled for four months before its lander module separated and touched down on March 1, 1982, east of an elevated volcanic region known as Phoebe Regio.
